What is PWA:
PWA - Progressive Web App - is a relatively new technology that allows you to "install" your online store as an app on a smartphone (a web application in the browser). If a customer does this, an icon with your store logo will appear on their home screen or in the app menu, and when clicked, your store will open instantly.
Currently, PWA can be supported by iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, macOS, and Chrome OS in the Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, Edge, and Samsung Internet browsers.
- Push notifications - currently not available, but they may be introduced in future updates. The foundation for them exists.
- Caching works in browsers that support service workers - link
- The prompt to install PWA is displayed in browsers and operating systems with PWA support - link
- Banners without support for beforeinstallprompt - link - can display native notifications about the possibility to install PWA, but unfortunately, there is no way to influence this behavior.
Caching with service workers also reduces network load - the cache is stored locally on the user's device. Pages, style files, scripts, images, and font files are cached.
